Amateur & Advanced Levels for Competition

Amateur and Advanced Divisions - Rules For Competition, Approved by the LPS Board of Directors, November 2017

FOR COMPETITIONS AT LPS BEGINNING JANUARY 2018

  • The AMATEUR LEVEL is intended for those interested in competing at the Novice or Intermediate Level. People who are experienced  photographers should not compete as Amateur.
  • The ADVANCED LEVEL is intended for Professional Photographers (who earn more than 50% of their income from photography) and for photographers who have had gallery showings. However, anyone who wishes may compete at this level.

WHAT MAY BE ENTERED IN THE DIVISIONS:

  • Photographers in both levels may enter two photos in each division:  Color Prints, Monochrome Prints, and Digital Submissions.
  • Prints entered at all levels should be overall 16” x 20”.  The actual photos may be any size or shape, but it is suggested that the total number of square inches be not less than 71 square inches.  For instructions on how to mat your own photos, see https://www.louisvillephotographic.org/preparing-your-photos-for-competition/
  • Entries that receive points at any level  may NOT be entered in any additional future print or digital competitions, except for the year-end competition for the year in which points for that photo were won.  Photos that have won points MAY be used in LPS Book Competitions and in the 3-Minute December Slide Show competitions.
